The Closure of Love
About the plan
Auditorio de Tenerife presents, as part of its pre-season and within the Ópera en minúscula series, the contemporary chamber opera La clausura del amor. This work, with music by Reyes Oteo and libretto by acclaimed playwright Pascal Rambert, is an operatic adaptation of Rambert's original play, which had its world premiere on 17 July 2026 at the III Festival de Ópera de Cámara de la Comunidad de Madrid, and now comes to Tenerife for a single performance on 3 October at 19:00.
La clausura del amor is an intense verbal duel where two bodies and two voices confront each other in an empty space, dissecting the end of a love relationship through two consecutive monologues, first his, then hers. The original theatrical version, written and directed by Pascal Rambert, premiered at the prestigious Festival de Aviñón in 2011 and has been translated and performed in over twenty countries. This new creation elevates the piece's verbal and emotional intensity into the realm of music, singing, and stage experimentation, transforming words into musical material and silence into a score.
The production is a co-production between Ópera de Tenerife, the Comunidad de Madrid and Teatro Xtremo, aiming to place the audience at the heart of this emotional struggle between rupture and beauty. The opera doesn't illustrate the text; instead, it amplifies and translates it into sound, light, and movement, creating a profound emotional experience and a soundscape where love and loss are rewritten.
The performance has a duration of 70 minutes, and access is only permitted for those aged five and over. Once the auditorium doors are closed, entry will not be permitted.
