Things to do in Tegueste

Tegueste is one of the few municipalities in Tenerife without a coastline, and that has left it with a rural, distinctly village character despite being ten minutes from La Laguna. Its programming is mostly local: neighbourhood fiestas, council activities, theatre and music in the cultural venues of the town centre and Pedro Álvarez.

You'll find its full agenda here, with dates, venues and links through to the organisers. As a small municipality with largely publicly funded programming, a good share of what's listed is free.

Its big event is the Romería de San Marcos in late April, one of the oldest in the Canaries and designated a Fiesta of National Tourist Interest. It's one of the few romerías where you still see ox-drawn carts, and where tradition carries more weight than the party atmosphere.
