Santa Rita Festivities 2026 - Araya, Candelaria

The neighbourhood of Araya, in Candelaria, is preparing to celebrate its traditional Santa Rita Festivities 2026 with an extensive programme of activities for all ages. All events offer free admission, inviting locals and visitors to enjoy culture, folk music, children's workshops, and religious events in honour of their patron saint.

Friday 16 October

• 21:00 12th 'Rancho Grande' Taifa Dance in Plaza de Araya, featuring performances by folk groups Idaira, Los Aceviños, Parranda El Chaboco and Igonce. Coordinated by Igonce. Traditional attire is essential.

Saturday 17 October

• 11:00 Children's workshop 'Magic Clay Chestnuts' with Varabana Creative People in Plaza de Araya. This activity is recommended for children aged 6 and over (children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult). Free registration via WhatsApp on 619 613 397.
• 20:00 Festival in Plaza de Araya featuring performances by clowns Tonino and Carolina, soloist Isabel González, Mariachi Mencey y Azteca, and dance with Grupo Canarias.

Sunday 18 October

• 17:00 Screening of the film 'The Youth Association That Marked an Era' at Espacio Cultural de Araya.

Wednesday 21 October

• 19:00 Talk: 'Saint Rita, an Example of a Suffering Mother and Wife, Who Overcame Pain Through Love for God', given by José Ángel Lantz at Parroquia de Araya.

Friday 23 October

• 20:30 Celebration of El Tanganazo with tapas and wine, enlivened by performances from Son de la Isla, Parranda Chasnera, and Grupo Guaydil in Plaza de Araya.

Saturday 24 October

• 19:30 Eucharist in honour of Santa Rita, officiated by parish priest Gregorio Ramos Domínguez and sung by Agrupación Folclórica Igonce at Parroquia de Araya.
• Afterwards, the Procession of the image of Santa Rita, accompanied by the Banda de Música Las Candelas and a fireworks display by Hermanos Toste through the streets of Araya.
• 22:30 Grand Verbena with orchestras Acapulco and Wamampy in Plaza de Araya.

Sunday 25 October

• 11:00 Final of the 13th José Manuel Marrero Envite Tournament in Plaza de Araya.
• 17:00 Screening of the video 'Stories That Time Did Not Erase' at Espacio Cultural de Araya.
