Concomitancias - MUSA México 2026
About the plan
The exhibition Concomitancias: Indigenous Legacies, Presence, and Futures in Mexico and the Canary Islands is presented at the Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This exhibition explores the deep historical, cultural, and symbolic connections between the Canary Islands and Mexico, two territories that, though separated by the Atlantic, have shared analogous processes.
The concept of 'Concomitances' is inspired by the convergent evolution seen in natural sciences (such as American cacti and certain African euphorbias), describing how unrelated organisms develop similar solutions. Similarly, the Canary Islands and Mexico have experienced resonances in processes such as colonisation, mestizaje (cultural mixing), identity construction, and their relationship with the land. The exhibition offers a journey that reveals both fortuitous coincidences and links stemming from similar historical contexts.
This activity is part of the 13th edition of the MUSA México Festival, an event that invites the public to MUNA to enjoy a wide programme encompassing music, culture, and gastronomy.
Discover this fascinating exhibition in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, open from 01/09 until 01/11, which invites you to explore the historical and cultural ties between the Canary Islands and Mexico.
