October: Seniors' Month in El Sauzal

Throughout October, El Sauzal Town Council is celebrating Seniors' Month with an extensive programme of activities under the title 'Events Dedicated to Our Seniors 2026'. These events offer a diverse range of plans designed for the well-being, leisure, and participation of the elderly residents of the municipality and the region.

Programme of Activities

Thursday 1 October

• 18:00: Celebration 'Acentejo Seniors 2026' at Teatro de El Sauzal. An event commemorating International Day of Older Persons with the participation of associations from the Acentejo Region. Places for this event are limited.

Saturday 3 October

• Inter-municipal excursion (limited places, paid activity):
• 08:00: Scheduled departure from each neighbourhood in El Sauzal.
• 08:15: Community breakfast at Sala La Pirámide de El Sauzal.
• 09:30: Visit to Mercado de La Laguna, an emblematic space that combines tradition, gastronomy, and local commerce.
• 10:45: Visit to Basílica de Candelaria, a historical, cultural, and religious landmark for Canarians, where refreshments will be offered.
• 12:15: Lunch at Bodegas de Arico restaurant, including a special menu, gifts, raffles, performances, and dancing with live music.
• 18:30: Return to El Sauzal.
• Excursion price: €15 for residents (ID required); €20 for non-residents (subject to availability).
• Excursion requirements: Must be over 60 years old. It is possible to attend with a companion who does not meet the minimum age.
• Registration: Available at El Sauzal Town Council (08:30 to 14:30, Monday to Friday) or at the decentralised Ravelo office (09:00 to 13:00, Monday to Friday). Registration closes on Friday 25 September.

Tuesday 6 October

• 17:30: Seniors' Plenary Session in the Salón Noble, with the active participation of the two local seniors' clubs.

Thursday 8 October

• From 08:30: Excursion to AQUALAND Costa Adeje, Waterpark & Dolphinarium. This activity also has limited places.

Tuesday 13 October

• 17:30: Workshop 'The Footprints of Our Lives' at Club de Mayores de Ravelo, led by Álex, Laura, and Paquito.

Wednesday 14 October

• 17:30: Presentation of the project 'Together for the Carnival Queen' in the assembly hall of the Centro Cultural. The candidate who will represent El Sauzal in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Seniors' Carnival 2027 will be announced, and details of her costume's creation will be shown.

Thursday 15 October

• 17:30: Talk-Workshop 'Tools for an Active Mind and a Peaceful Heart' at the Club de Mayores del casco, by the Canary Islands Mental Health Federation.

Tuesday 20 October

• 17:30: Second session of the Workshop 'The Footprints of Our Lives' at the Club de Mayores del casco, with Álex, Laura, and Paquito.

Thursday 22 October

• 17:30: Tribute to Our Seniors Over 95 Years Old at Teatro El Sauzal, under the heartfelt motto 'They Deserve It'.

Tuesday 27 October

• 10:30: Rural Olympics and Community Gathering at La Pirámide, with the participation of users of the municipality's annual 'Workshops in the Neighbourhoods' programme and a group of seniors from La Gomera. A day dedicated to sharing traditional games, experiences, and good times.

Thursday 29 October

• 17:30: Second session of the Talk-Workshop 'Tools for an Active Mind and a Peaceful Heart' at the Club de Mayores de Ravelo, by the Canary Islands Mental Health Federation.
