The Exhibition Hall in the Plaza del Príncipe in El Sauzal, located opposite the town hall steps, hosts the watercolour exhibition 'Island Light' by artist Iulia Gupalo, artistically known as GUPALEVA. Admission is free for all visitors.
The exhibition opening will take place on Friday 9 October 2026 at 19:00. The exhibition will be open to the public until Sunday 25 October 2026, with visiting hours from Wednesday to Sunday, 18:00 to 20:00.
Born in 1992 and a resident of Tenerife since 2013, Iulia Gupalo trained in the rigorous classical Russian academic tradition, which provided her with a solid foundation in drawing and technical precision. Since arriving on the island, her art has evolved, focusing on the volcanic landscape, the Atlantic light, and the direct experience of the island environment. Through her Gupaleva project, Gupalo explores the landscape not as a decorative image, but as a sensory and contemporary experience, with a practice rooted in working from life that emphasises atmosphere, spatial rhythm, and the tension between structure and emotion. Her works seek a dialogue between observation, memory, presence, and interpretation, offering an intimate and conscious perspective on nature and time.
