El Remojo de los Chochos 2026
About the plan
The deeply rooted tradition of El Remojo de los Chochos returns to San Juan de la Rambla on 5 October. This unique event, revived in 2011 and free to attend, serves as the prelude to the much-anticipated Fiesta del Humo, which this year will take place on Saturday 10 October.
As night falls, dozens of locals gather to descend the Risco de Las Pencas, on the slopes of Barranco Ruiz, carrying lit torches and wicks. The route finishes in the La Rambla neighbourhood, where they are greeted by the community to kick off the popular festivities.
