The Soul of Gospel
About the plan
The Auditorio de Tenerife is preparing to host the moving concert The Soul of Gospel in its Sala Sinfónica, featuring the acclaimed Black Heritage Choir. This choir, made up of a selection of talented singers from the Mississippi Mass Choir and directed by Mr. Jerry Calvin Smith, pays tribute to gospel music from its origins on the plantations to its more urban and contemporary variations.
With an approximate duration of 90 minutes, this show offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history and emotion of a genre that has transcended borders. The most remarkable aspect of the Black Heritage Choir is its unique characteristic as a choir of soloists, where each member takes on a leading role without weakening the cohesion and powerful sound of the ensemble.
Gospel is a genre that has profoundly influenced contemporary popular music, forming the basis for great stars such as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, the Jacksons, and James Brown. This concert celebrates the cultural richness and musical sophistication of a style that has successfully incorporated currents such as Jazz, Blues, Country, and Hip Hop, while keeping its essence and connection to the reality of its congregations alive.
For safety and enjoyment reasons, access to the event is only permitted for those over five years old.
Don't miss this musical event in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 20/12, a gospel concert to feel the soul of African American tradition in the Metropolitan Area.
