Tensamba 2026 - Trío Corrente
About the plan
The prestigious Tensamba 2026 festival presents Trío Corrente at the Teatro Leal in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, one of the most prominent contemporary Brazilian instrumental jazz ensembles. Founded in 2001 by Edu Ribeiro (drums), Fábio Torres (piano), and Paulo Paulelli (double bass), the trio has forged a unique sound that blends the sophistication of choro and Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) with the creative freedom inherent in jazz, showcasing an impeccable balance between virtuosity and intimacy.
With a solid international career, their repertoire spans both classics and original compositions. Their global prominence was cemented when they won the Grammy and Latin Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album for their work "Song for Maura" alongside the legendary Paquito D’Rivera, solidifying Trío Corrente's status as an essential reference for both audiences and specialised critics.
