Symphony with Organ
About the plan
The Auditorio de Tenerife hosts the A7 Concert by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, titled "Symphony with Organ", in its Symphony Hall. This musical evening, starting at 19:30, promises an experience rich in colour, expression, and instrumental imagination, bringing together contemporary creation with French elegance, instrumental brilliance, and one of the most spectacular sonic explosions in the classical repertoire. Access is only permitted for those aged five and over.
The programme opens with Gabriel Fauré's Pavane, Op. 50, notable for its serene elegance and refined melodic sensibility. Svetlin Roussev's violin will take centre stage in two highly distinctive works: Ernest Chausson's Poème, Op. 25 (performed for the first time by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra), a piece of concentrated lyricism and an almost secretive atmosphere; and Maurice Ravel's concert rhapsody, Tzigane, a work of incandescent virtuosity with Gypsy inspiration.
The second half of the concert culminates with Camille Saint-Saëns' monumental Symphony No. 3 in C minor, "with Organ", Op. 78, where the orchestra, under the direction of Karl-Heinz Steffens, seems to expand into a sonic cathedral. The entry of the organ, with Juan de la Rubia as soloist, will open a space of physical and emotional resonance, culminating in a dazzling affirmation.
The artists featured are:
- Conductor: Karl-Heinz Steffens
- Soloist (violin): Svetlin Roussev
- Soloist (organ): Juan de la Rubia
As a complement to the concert, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra offers a pre-concert talk at 18:30 in the Sala Avenida (located in the Auditorio's hall). This talk, led by Lourdes Bonnet from the Asociación Tinerfeña de Amigos de la Música (ATADEM), provides an introduction to the programme and offers free entry until full capacity is reached.
Don't miss this concert in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 8 December, a unique opportunity to enjoy classical music at the Auditorio de Tenerife in the Metropolitan Area.
