About the plan
Tenerife Opera presents Orlando, the acclaimed three-act opera by George Frideric Handel, in the Symphony Hall of Auditorio de Tenerife. This musical production, with musical direction by Daniel Espasa and stage direction and costume design by Rafael Villalobos, explores the emotional journey of a soldier torn between expected heroism and his own vulnerability. The work, sung in Italian with Spanish and English surtitles, invites reflection on the rigidity of social systems versus individual sensitivity.
The main cast includes:
- Orlando: Xavier Sabata (countertenor)
- Angelica: Emöke Baráth (soprano)
- Dorinda: Sabina Puértolas (soprano)
- Medoro: Anna Bonitatibus (mezzo-soprano)
The musical performance is by Vespres d’Arnad, a baroque orchestra. The revival of stage direction and costume design is by Eike Ecker, set design by Emanuele Sinisi (revival by Vera Morcillo), and lighting design by Albert Faura. This production is a collaboration between the Peralada Festival and Oper Köln.
The event features two performances:
- Thursday, 21 January at 19:00
- Saturday, 23 January at 19:00
Please note that access to the hall will not be permitted once the event has started, and admission is only for those aged five and over.
