Negro Luz (Raquel Klein | LAV-C)

The acclaimed creator Raquel Klein presents her piece Negro Luz at Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a striking choreographic installation that immerses the viewer in darkness as scenic material and a space for expanded perception. This event is part of LAV-C, Laboratorio de Artes Vivas y Ciudadanía de Canarias, a platform committed to promoting and protecting the arts in the islands. The work is recommended for ages 12 and over and has an approximate duration of 60 minutes.

"Negro Luz" explores the contour as a point of dialogue between presence and absence, from a contemplative perspective. Through the body's landscape-like states and various scenic mechanisms, a suspended temporality is activated that transforms perception, leading the spectator into a trance-like state. Darkness becomes a timeless refuge where identity, orientation, and form blur, inviting a subtle experience that refines one's gaze.

The piece uses very low-intensity light and live immersive soundscapes, building an atmosphere modulated by a bidirectional relationship between the body and the device. The body activates the space, and in turn, the physical and luminous space conditions gestures, temporality, and attention. The work invites a 'dropping of the eyelids' to enter a visual experience where the gaze gains agency and actively participates in constructing what unfolds, a place of observation where blackness becomes light within the darkness.
