Hito & Oscure Luminescenze
About the plan
Teatro Victoria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife presents a double bill of contemporary dance featuring the pieces 'Hito' and 'Oscure Luminescenze'. This is an opportunity to enjoy two works that explore complex human and emotional dynamics through movement.
The first piece, 'Hito', draws inspiration from the Japanese kanji 'Hito' (人) to celebrate the importance of mutual support and the strength of authentic relationships. It's a portrayal of human nature, delving into the balance between seeking support and forging one's own path. The choreography focuses on joint movement, calibration, and the creation of space, reflecting a dynamic of trust and the expression of identity through the act of giving and receiving support.
Meanwhile, 'Oscure Luminescenze' is a duet that explores the internal conflict between the desire for dominance and the quest for freedom. An unsettling and manipulative male figure exerts a constant, oppressive presence over the female dancer. She struggles to break free from an invisible control, showing fragile resistance through her gestures and movements. The dance transforms into an emotional battle, a continuous effort to break the ties that bind her, while he dictates her every step. The climax arrives with the irruption of life itself – an impulse towards chaos and disorder that breaks the chains and dissipates inertia, opening the protagonists to new possibilities. It's a powerful yet uncertain liberation, full of hope towards unforeseen horizons where dance has the power to rewrite destiny.
