Finados Stories
About the plan
Step into the world of 'Finados Stories' at the Teatro Unión Tejina in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. This moving storytelling show immerses us in the traditions of Finados nights, through tales shared by a family in the warmth of their home, transporting us two hundred years into the past to portray life in olden-day Canarias.
The stories, imbued with captivating magical realism, bring to life a gallery of unforgettable characters who make us complicit in the cycle of life and death. Among them are:
- Lookouts, orchil gatherers, fishermen
- Mythical figures such as tibicenas and luminarias
- Tales of shipwrecks, pirate ships and the last voyage of the Balvanera
- Traditional characters such as witches and healers, innkeepers, priests
- Lost and blessed souls, reborn and returned
- Experiences of emigrants and the work of rural teachers
These stories not only recover the rich history and melting pot of cultures of Canarias, but also highlight the importance of family, its legacy, and the need to normalise life transitions, keeping our roots alive.
Don't miss this theatre and dance event in San Cristóbal de La Laguna on 30/10, and relive the Finados stories in the Metropolitan Area of Tenerife.
