Finlandia - Sinfónica de Tenerife
About the plan
Auditorio de Tenerife presents Finlandia, the Sinfónica de Tenerife's A4 Concert, a musical evening combining contemporary energy and historical awareness, conducted by Antony Hermus. This programme explores freedom and identity through music, from rhythm as a vital impulse to music as an affirmation of liberty, in the Sala Sinfónica at Auditorio de Tenerife.
The evening opens with Andy Akiho's Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra, performed by the acclaimed soloist Colin Currie, considered an absolute benchmark in contemporary percussion. This work, premiering with the Sinfónica, transforms percussion into a melodic, physical, and theatrical protagonist. The programme then continues with two iconic works by Jean Sibelius:
- Finlandia, op. 26: A piece that transformed a people's aspiration into music of tension, resistance, and elevation.
- Symphony No. 3 in C major, op. 52: A more sober and classical Sibelius, reducing grand gestures to construct music of transparency, balance, and concentration.
Pre-Concert Talk: Before the concert, at 18:30, a free talk will be offered in the Sala Avenida (located in the Auditorio hall), led by Sergio Rodríguez from the Asociación Tinerfeña de Amigos de la Música (ATADEM). Admission is free while seats last.
Please note that access to the hall will not be permitted once the doors have closed for the start of the event, and admission is allowed for those aged five and over.
Don't miss this classical music event in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 23/10, an unmissable cultural experience in the Metropolitan Area.
