'Filia et Fobia' & 'La Mort'

Two striking contemporary dance pieces, "Filia et Fobia" and "La Mort", are presented at the Teatro Victoria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Both works explore the human condition, fragility, and beauty through movement and powerful imagery in a ticketed event.

The first piece, "Filia et Fobia", was born from inspiration during the strictest lockdown. With an aesthetic that combines aseptic simplicity and sculptural force, the work addresses the profound need to endure and capture beauty in the most difficult moments. It invites the audience to reflect on a closed space, where asepsis meets 'flesh', with the immaculate idea of white and the hygienisation of the body, despite the absence of blood. It questions how this asepsis wavers before the vitality of the flesh, how it pulses and offers itself, embodying beauty. The piece suggests that it is the spectator themselves who, desperate with love, desire, and hatred, carries on their shoulders all the pain and beauty of their human essence.

On the other hand, "La Mort", by the company La Taimada, is a stage work that delves into the fragility and violence inherent in human nature. It is built from bodies, movement, performative actions, and scenes that recover the poetic power of images. This work marks a new stage for La Taimada, where dance underlies within performances with a strong dreamlike quality, transmitting unconscious and subliminal messages. The movement that drives the bodies is described as internal, subtle, and honest.
