Premiere of «Yo nací en un surco de judías» by Almealera Theatre Company

The Teatro Almealera company presents the premiere of their play «Yo nací en un surco de judías» at Teatro El Sauzal.

This theatre show, taking place on Saturday 24 October 2026 at 20:00, prompts reflection on rural life and the role of women in agriculture and livestock farming.

Ticket prices are €12 for the Standard Rate and €9 for the Special Rate for students, under 25s, over 65s, and residents of the municipality of El Sauzal.

The play unfolds through a travel journal full of illustrations and questions, featuring six interviews that explore fundamental issues about life in the countryside:

• Why do you do this, what do you enjoy about it?
• Do you feel valued as a livestock farmer, as an agricultural worker?
• What makes it difficult to make a living from this?
• Why are there fewer women working in rural areas?
• What do you think is the future of livestock farming and agriculture?

The synopsis delves into various stories: a film location scout who fell in love with a valley in Lugo and became a farmer; a ten-year-old girl who teaches her class how she practises transhumance in the Sierra de Ávila; a 'neo-rural' woman from Badajoz despairing with an organic inspector; a brother and sister from La Mancha who played on hay bales; a shepherdess from Zamora who decides to sell her sheep; and a granddaughter of farmers from Almería who reclaims a few abandoned terraces. All these experiences intertwine with the final question: what kind of ancestor do you want to be?
