Las Niñas de Cádiz bring 'El viento es salvaje' to Teatro El Sauzal

The company Las Niñas de Cádiz presents its acclaimed show 'El viento es salvaje' at Teatro El Sauzal, as the professional closing performance of the XXII Amateur Theatre Festival 2026. The play, awarded the MAX Award for Best New Show, will be performed on Tuesday 8 December 2026 at 20:00 and has a duration of 75 minutes.
This production, recommended for ages 13 and over, is a playful and "jonda" reflection on luck and guilt, blending tragedy with laughter, a distinctive hallmark of Las Niñas de Cádiz. The synopsis introduces us to two friends, as intimate as sisters, whose lives take a fatal turn, stripping the myths of Phaedra and Medea of their peplos to bring them into the present day. In the background, a Cádiz with Macondian undertones, where the unsettling easterly wind, the knife-grinder's flute, the presence of the circus, and the birds' trills foreshadow tragedy.

Ticket prices are 12 € for the standard rate and 9 € for the special rate, available for students, under 25s, and over 65s, as well as residents of the municipality of El Sauzal (proof must be shown at the box office for reduced rates).
Tickets can be purchased at the Theatre offices (calle Constitución, nº 3, annexed to the Town Hall) from Tuesday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:00, at the box office 90 minutes before the start of the performance, or via the online platform Ticketty. Please note that once the performance has started, access to the hall will not be permitted.
