About the plan
The acclaimed company Las Niñas de Cádiz presents their play «El viento es salvaje» (Wild is the Wind) at Teatro El Sauzal. This theatre show, part of the closing ceremony of the XXII Amateur Theatre Festival 2026, has been awarded the MAX Award for Best New Show.
The play, lasting 75 minutes, is recommended for audiences aged 13 and over. It offers a playful yet profound reflection on luck and guilt, blending tragedy and comedy, a distinctive hallmark of the company. The plot follows two friends, as close as sisters, whose bond is overshadowed by a conflict that leads them to confront an ancient fate. All this unfolds against the backdrop of a magical, Macondo-esque Cádiz, where everyday elements like the unsettling easterly wind (levante), the knife grinder, the circus, and the chirping of birds foreshadow tragedy.
The cast features Alejandra López, Alicia Rodriguez, Rocío Segovia, and Ana López Segovia, who also directs (in collaboration with Jose Troncoso) and wrote the text. The artistic team is completed by Mariano Marín (sound design), Miguel A. Milán (costume design), Maika Barroso (costume maker), Agustín Maza (lighting design), and Isa Vicente (visuals). The production is by Las Niñas de Cádiz, with advice from Violeta Hernández (La Suite). The soundtrack includes the songs «SEÑOR DE NERVIÓN» by Fran Ortiz Morón and Francisco J. Seren, performed by Banda de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Cádiz, and «WILD IS THE WIND» by Nina Simone.
The performance will take place on Tuesday 8 December 2026 at 20:00. Tickets are priced at €12 for the standard rate and €9 for the special rate. This reduced rate applies to students, those under 25 and over 65, and residents of El Sauzal municipality, requiring accreditation at the box office. You can purchase your tickets at:
