"El viento es salvaje" by Las niñas de Cádiz
About the plan
The company Las niñas de Cádiz comes to Teatro El Sauzal with their play "El viento es salvaje", a theatrical production that is part of the closing of the XXII Festival de Teatro Amateur 2026. This professional theatre performance will be held on Monday 7 December 2026 at 20:00, with an approximate duration of 75 minutes. The show is recommended for ages 13 and over.
The play strips Phaedra and Medea of their peplums, bringing them into the present day as grey figures who, faced with conflict, embrace an ancient fate. The backdrop is a Macondo-esque Cádiz, where the unsettling easterly wind, heralded by the knife-grinder's flute and the presence of the circus, foreshadows tragedy. It is a playful and profound (jonda) reflection on luck and guilt, where tragedy is punctuated by laughter, as is characteristic of Las Niñas de Cádiz's shows.
The cast consists of Alejandra López, Alicia Rodríguez, Rocío Segovia, and Ana López Segovia, who also directs the play (in collaboration with Jose Troncoso) and wrote the text. The sound design is by Mariano Marín, costume design by Miguel A. Milán with Maika Barroso on tailoring, and lighting design by Agustín Maza. Production is by LAS NIÑAS DE CÁDIZ, with advice from Violeta Hernández (La Suite). The play features the songs “SEÑOR DE NERVIÓN” (by Fran Ortiz Morón and Francisco J. Seren, performed by the Banda de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Cádiz) and “WILD IS THE WIND” (by Nina Simone).
Tickets are priced at €12 for the Standard Rate. A Special Rate of €9 is available for students, under 25s, over 65s, and residents of the municipality of El Sauzal, which must be verified at the box office.
