The Year 1917 - Tenerife Symphony Orchestra

The Auditorio de Tenerife hosts the A5 Concert by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, under the honorary direction of Víctor Pablo Pérez and with Simon Trpčeski on piano. This programme, titled "The Year 1917", features two important Russian works that explore intimate and historical destinies.

The first part of the concert will be dedicated to Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18. This score of great melodic sweep, profound emotion and expansive virtuosity emerged after a period of creative block for the composer, where fragility transforms into affirmation thanks to Simon Trpčeski's brilliant interpretation.

In the second part, the Symphony Orchestra will perform Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 12 in D minor, "The Year 1917", Op. 112. Dedicated to Lenin and linked to the official memory of the Russian Revolution, this work allows for a complex reading between the individual, power and collective narrative, immersing the audience in the symbolic force of history.

Before the concert, at 18:30, a pre-concert talk will be offered with free admission until full capacity is reached in the Sala Avenida (located in the Auditorium hall). This talk, given by José Lorenzo Chinea from the Asociación Tinerfeña de Amigos de la Música (ATADEM), will provide insights to better understand the works in the programme.

Please note that once the doors of the Sala Sinfónica are closed for the start of the event, access will not be permitted. The concert is open to ages five and over.
