Open-Air Jazz Summer Series at Teatro El Sauzal
Sobre el plan
The Teatro El Sauzal hosts the 'Open-Air Jazz' Summer Series, a concert series set to liven up July and August nights in 2026. It's the perfect opportunity to enjoy jazz music in a unique setting – the Teatro El Sauzal Hall and outdoor area, with the refreshing breeze from Tenerife's north coast.
This series will take place over four Thursdays: 9 and 23 July, and 6 and 20 August 2026. All concerts start at 20:00 and last approximately 70 minutes. Tickets are priced at 8 € and include a glass of wine and a welcome tapa. This event is suitable for all ages.
Jazz Series Programme:
- Thursday 9 July: Christian Cabrera 4tet. La Palma-born guitarist Christian Cabrera presents 'Camino Las Fuentes', his debut work as a composer and bandleader. His modern jazz fusion proposal stands out for its fresh sound, very personal character, diverse fused styles, singable melodies, complex rhythmic passages, and electrifying improvisations.
- Thursday 23 July: Lusofonías. This jazz fusion band, made up of musicians from the Canary Islands jazz scene, delves into the roots of popular Cape Verdean, Brazilian, Angolan, and Portuguese music styles, creating their own blended compositions. Their innovative approach is notable for fusing Lusophone popular music with jazz and improvisation, all from a Canarian perspective.
- Thursday 6 August: B.A.A.D. feat Héctor Izquierdo. Led by talented guitarist Héctor Izquierdo, the band presents a repertoire of contemporary jazz featuring tracks by cult guitarists John Scofield, Mike Stern, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. Accompanied by Diego Bonet (bass), Marco Navas (drums), and Axel Afonso (piano), they promise a concert full of energy, dynamism, and electrifying melodies, blending the classic and modern sounds of today's jazz.
- Thursday 20 August: Tenerife Jazz Camp Reunion. As every year, the 14th Tenerife Jazz Camp International Seminar offers the chance to enjoy a unique and exclusive concert with three of its excellent professors. Led by director Kike Perdomo, this year will feature Borja Barrueta on drums and Martin Leiton on double bass, both of whom Perdomo recorded two of his most iconic works with: AC&Funk and Elektrik&Funk. Barrueta is one of Spain's most in-demand drummers (touring with Jorge Drexler and Valeria Castro), while Leiton, a double bass professor at Liceu and ESMUC, has released several albums as a leader and collaborated with figures like Jeff Ballard and Juan Perro. This concert is a preview of Kike Perdomo's “Organic Trio Vol II”, due for release in 2026.
Tickets can be purchased at the Teatro El Sauzal offices (calle Constitución, nº 3, next to the Town Hall) from Tuesday to Friday, 08:00 to 15:00 (phone 922 149 756). They are also available at the box office, 90 minutes before the show starts, or online via the Tickety platform. For reduced rates, accreditation at the box office is essential. Spectators are advised that entry to the hall will not be permitted once the show has begun.
