'Ay Bendito!'
About the plan
The exhibition 'Ay Bendito!' at Leyendecker (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) explores the deep historical connection between Canarias and Puerto Rico. The show delves into the Canarian emigration to the Caribbean archipelago, which left a significant mark on its traditions, language, ways of life, and identity.
The artistic concept views the Atlantic not just as a border, but as a cultural bridge uniting two island territories with a shared history. The exhibition brings together ten prominent artists who represent diverse approaches to contemporary art in Puerto Rico:
- Ángel Otero
- Edra Soto
- Natalia Sánchez
- Rogelio Báez
- Yiyo Tirado
- Karlo Andrei Ibarra
- José Lerma
- Jorge Jiménez
- Jun Martínez
- Livia Ortiz
Their works address universal themes such as identity, memory, territory, architecture, nature, tradition, and social transformations. The artists utilise a wide range of creative languages, from painting and sculpture to installation and material experimentation.
Don't miss this exhibition in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 8 January, an essential cultural event in the Metropolitan Area to start the year.
