Festival of the Virgin of Urkupiña 2026 in Santa Cruz
About the plan
The Festival of the Virgin of Urkupiña returns to Santa Cruz de Tenerife to celebrate yet another year of this deeply rooted tradition of the Bolivian community on the island. Over two days, Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August 2026, residents and the community will unite in a neighbourhood and religious celebration combining faith, music, dance, and togetherness.
The main activities will be held in the Plaza de la Iglesia de Fátima, in the Barrio de Salamanca, an emblematic location for the festivities. The programme includes:
- Solemn masses
- Colourful traditional dance performances
- An emotional procession through the streets of Barrio de Salamanca, carrying the image of the Virgin of Urkupiña along its route
The festival is a unique opportunity to enjoy the rich Bolivian culture in Tenerife, sharing moments of tradition and community. The event will culminate with a community gathering in Las Chafiras, thus concluding two meaningful days.
Don't miss this traditional festival event in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 21/08 and 22/08, an unmissable cultural highlight in the Metropolitan Area.
