Every summer, El Cabezo Beach in El Médano, located in Granadilla de Abona, becomes the global epicentre of windsurfing as it hosts the PWA World Windsurf Championship. This prestigious festival and sporting competition brings together the world's top windsurfers in a premier event.
El Médano, known as the windsurfing and kitesurfing capital of Tenerife, is the ideal setting for this PWA World Cup event. The competition attracts over 160 participants from about 20 nationalities, who compete in the thrilling disciplines of Wave and Slalom X. Notable participants often include figures such as Iballa Ruano, Víctor Fernández, Philip Köster, and Ricardo Campello.
In addition to the vibrant sporting events, the festival offers complementary activities open to the public in the El Cabezo area, creating a festive atmosphere for all attendees. Admission is free for spectators who wish to enjoy the excitement of live windsurfing.
