MUSA México 2026: Candelaria/Chaxiraxi Guadalupe/Tonantzin
About the plan
The MUSA initiative returns in 2026 for a new edition dedicated to Mexico, a country that was previously the focus in 2015. Under the evocative title "Candelaria/Chaxiraxi Guadalupe/Tonantzin", this event at the Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will offer a fresh perspective on the deep historical and human ties that unite Mexico and the Canary Islands.
It will be an opportunity to explore the extraordinary cultural diversity of Mexico and its connections with the islands, possibly through a comparison of emblematic figures such as the Virgin of Candelaria (Chaxiraxi for the Guanches) and the Virgin of Guadalupe (Tonantzin for the Aztecs), symbols of cultural syncretism.
The event is on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at MUNA, starting at 19:00.
