The Delirium Teatro company presents the play «La Konkista de Canarias», an original adventure comedy written by Antonio Tabares, at the Auditorio Capitol de Tacoronte. This theatrical production is suitable for all audiences and addresses, from a playful yet historically rigorous perspective, one of the key events in the history of the Archipelago.
The play takes a journey through the different stages of the Conquest, from the first Norman incursions to the intervention of the Crown of Castile, highlighting the main military events and the protagonists of the conflict on each of the seven islands.
The plot begins during the dress rehearsal of a disastrous young acting company attempting to perform a conventional play about the Conquest of the Canary Islands. However, the performance is constantly interrupted by a series of comical incidents caused by the actors' own clumsiness, creating an entertaining play-within-a-play with abundant references and nods to current events.
Beneath this satirical vision, the play explores the sad reality of humanity based on the superiority of some over others. It addresses themes such as battles, crimes, and betrayals, but also acts of heroism and nobility – facts that are extrapolable to any contemporary war or invasion. A profound and entertaining reflection at the same time.
